Broccoli flowers at the end of the season. You can avoid/delay this by picking the stalks before they flower. But all things do come to an end...
Yep, they're done--I've also heard you're supposed to pick them before they flower. Now you get to sit back and enjoy the show!

No problem. You just didn't pick it soon enough. The part we eat is the unopened flower buds. (The stems are yummy too when peeled)
that is great but i never got the little buds. I have stalks and leaves nothing else grew. what happened? Carol
